Red Carpet Manicure Review

My youngest daughter just recently celebrated her 17th birthday. I have been wanting to get her a at-home Gel Nail kit for her gift and the nice folks at Red Carpet Manicure were nice enough to send her some products to try out and review.

The picture above is everything she received. This is not exactly what comes in the starter kit,so I don’t want to confuse anyone. The Starter Kit you can buy is $59.99 and comes with:

  • Portable LED Light – Battery-Operated Curing Light. Batteries NOT included (requires 4 AA batteries).
  • Structure – BASE COAT GEL
  • Brilliance – SEAL & SHINE TOP COAT GEL
  • Red Carpet Reddy – LED Gel Polish
  • RCM Instructions Card

The only difference in what she received is that she got two extra bottles of polish to try. When you actually buy the starter Kit it only comes with one polish in the box.

As many of you know, gel nails have become super popular, but having them done at the Nail Salon can cost anywhere from $30-$45 each time you go. Well being a frugal parent there is no way I would ever pay that every 3 weeks just for nice nails.

Well with Red Carpet Manicure’s Home Starter Kit you can get the same look year round with the cost of 1 salon visit. Plus the direction are super easy to follow and nails come out looking great!

Here is what my daughter Ashlyn’s hand looked like before she used her kit for the first time. She did the whole process by herself with no help.

You start out with your base coat then hold on to the LED lamp for 2 minutes to cure . Then you add whatever color polish you want next and cure again for another 2 minutes. Then you do the same with your top coat.

Here is how the light works. This light was my only complaint with the whole kit. It seems to not be made very well.Ours was all scratched up when it arrived and we had to tape the back on to keep the 4AA batteries in it. Plus it seemed to take longer to cure the polish then other LED lights I have seen used.

Now don’t get me wrong it does work, you just have to be patient and wait the whole 2 minutes each time. You can buy an AC adapter for the light, but I wish it came with it to begin with.

Here is her finished nails in After Party Pink I think she did pretty good for her first try. what do you think?

Overall our impression of Red Carpet Manicure was positive. I think for the price this is a great At-Home Starter Kit.

Like I said before I don’t really love the LED light, but it does work and the Red Carpet Manicure Gel Polishes are more affordable at $9.99 each then a lot of the other gel polishes I have seen. So overall this is a very cost effective set that will save you tons of money and save you trips to the nail salon.

Disclaimer:I was given products to try and review.Doing a review is always my choice and all opinions stated are mine and mine alone.

  1. That’s a really cool starter kit, thanks for the picture walk through too. I really need something like this. I just had polish, even using a clear base coat, stain my nails. So I need some TLC STAT!

  2. I never get to go anywhere to get my nails done, so this kit would make me feel much more pampered than just some simple polish. Even if I’m still doing it myself 😉

Let me know what you think
