Cafe 35 is located in the heart of the Lone Star State. Yes the town of Temple Texas where I live is the demographic dead center of TX. So we are literally deep in the heart of Texas!
Cafe 35 started as a vision for the Martin family. In fact Tyler Martin is the Director of Operations. This Cafe prides itself on Homemade Texas food cooked with a flair. I believe they have definitely hit the mark.
The first time I stopped by to have a quick-lunch while out shopping by myself. I had passed by this place many times as it sits right on I-35. So all my friends in North Texas please stop by on your next trip South I promise you won’t be disappointed.
My first meal from the Cafe made me a fan. I had the Pork Schnitzel with sautéed mushroom brown gravy, homemade redskin on mashed potatoes and mac-n-cheese.
This is the small plate if you can believe it. They also sale it as a full order or dinner portion.Retail $7.99-$9.99.
The smaller version was more than enough food and at under $8 I found it a great deal!
While I was there for lunch that day I noticed they were doing a Valentine’s Dinner Service and asked to speak to the Manager Daniel Chapin. Daniel was extremely friendly and answered all my question about the special dinner service they were doing for the Holiday. I booked me and my husband for dinner.
I immediately called my hubby to tell him to reserve the date for dinner as he is usually so busy with work I do have to make an appointment.
So the big day came and since it was Valentine’s Day I was excited to dress up and spend the evening with my hubby.
So here is our beautiful dinner in photos with descriptions, I hope you will see why we love Cafe 35 and plan on making it our go to place for out to eat.
We started our meal with Bacon Wrapped Tater Tots. These are not your average frozen tot,but each one is wrapped in bacon love and is superb!
We then had a wonderful fresh green salad with house made ranch.I forgot to get a picture of this beautiful salad(sorry) it even had roasted red peppers and artichoke hearts in it. Me and the hubby both loved it.
The main dish was a Filet Mignon with Shrimp Scampi with roasted potatoes and fresh green beans. For a Cafe of it’s size I wasn’t expecting the caliber of steak we received. It was a generous cut and had more favor then steaks I have eaten that cost over twice as much.
My hubby is picky with his steaks and he said it was the best steak he had tasted in a very long time. Needless to say we were both more then surprised, we were delighted!
Then for dessert even though I was so stuffed we had these beautiful Hand dipped chocolate covered strawberries over kiwi sorbet with fresh kiwi. All served in a wine glass. This was the perfect ending to a memorable dinner. It was light and sweet without being to sweet.
This dinner also included two beverages and the whole meal was only $39.99 for a couple.
They also offer in-house and out of house catering of all sizes. I would highly recommend them. Friendly folks, great prices, and darn good cooking!!!
